Welcome to the International Storytelling Exchange Project 2025, an inspiring initiative that invites schools across the globe to come together and celebrate the power of stories. This project creates a unique space where master storytellers, educators, and librarians share their country’s folktales, myths, and cultural narratives with students from around the world.
Imagine your students listening to enchanting tales from faraway lands, exchanging their own local stories, and discovering the rich cultural heritage of other communities. Through storytelling, we not only nurture a love for literature but also build bridges of understanding, empathy, and friendship across nations. 📚✨
The International Storytelling Exchange Project offers schools the opportunity to organize live virtual storytelling sessions with a partner school. Each session is designed to be a two-way exchange, where both schools share stories from their own traditions.
By participating, students experience the magic of oral storytelling, broaden their perspectives, and gain deeper appreciation for global diversity — all while strengthening the global community of learners that International School Library Month (ISLM) celebrates.
Flexible Scheduling:
Schools have the freedom to schedule their storytelling sessions on dates and times that suit both partner schools and their respective time zones. 📅
Virtual Platforms:
Sessions can be hosted via Skype, Zoom, or MS Teams, allowing all students to join easily from their classrooms or homes. 💻
Partner Coordination:
Unlike other ISLM projects, matches will not be arranged by ISLM. Instead, librarians or teachers should select and reach out to a partner school from the provided registration list. Coordination will include:
Registration Deadline: October 26, 2025
Storytelling Sessions: Sessions should ideally take place during October 2025 as part of ISLM celebrations.

🌟 Message from the ISLM Chairperson – International Storytelling Exchange Project 2025 🌟
Dear Educators, Librarians, and Storytellers,
Stories are at the heart of who we are as human beings. They carry our traditions, values, and imaginations across generations and borders. The International Storytelling Exchange Project is a celebration of this universal gift — an opportunity for students to listen, share, and connect with voices from different corners of the world.
Through storytelling, we are not only nurturing a love for literature but also fostering empathy, respect, and cultural awareness. Each tale, whether it is a folk legend, a myth, or a personal narrative, invites us to step into another’s world and see life through a different lens.
I encourage you to participate wholeheartedly, inspire your students to share their own narratives, and embrace the diversity of stories you will encounter. Together, let us use storytelling as a bridge — connecting our libraries, classrooms, and hearts across nations.
With warm appreciation,
Raman Deep
