International Book Review Exchange Project 2026

Connecting Students Worldwide Through Stories, Ideas, and a Shared Love of Reading

About the Project

The International Book Review Exchange Project 2026 is an international reading initiative that brings schools and students together through the exchange of book reviews.

The project provides students with an opportunity to:

  • explore books and authors from their own and other cultures;

  • express their responses to literature;

  • discover the reading interests of students in other countries;

  • recommend books to international peers;

  • learn about different literary and reading cultures; and

  • establish meaningful connections through a shared love of reading.

By exchanging reviews, students become both readers and literary ambassadors, introducing their peers to books and voices that they may not otherwise encounter.

The project forms part of the wider celebration of International School Library Month (ISLM) 2026.

Project Overview

The International Book Review Exchange Project brings participating schools together in pairs or groups to facilitate an international exchange of book reviews.

Students are encouraged to:

📖 Write Book Reviews

Prepare thoughtful reviews of books they have read and would like to recommend to their international peers.

🌍 Highlight Literature from Their Own Country

Introduce books, authors, stories, and literary voices from their own country or cultural context.

🤝 Exchange Reviews

Share their reviews with students from their partner school and discover what young readers elsewhere are reading and recommending.

Through this process, students can broaden their literary horizons while developing communication, reflection, critical-thinking, and intercultural-learning skills.
