International Focus SIG

Focus: Our field of focus takes in issues of international and multicultural issues of librarianship at the school level. The SIG will thus be of interest to librarians in international and multi-national schools, and to librarians in International Baccalaureate (IB) programs schools. 

Objectives

  • to celebrate internationalism, multiculturalism and international aspects of librarianship within our schools;
  • to provide a forum for personnel working in international and IB schools to discuss issues of mutual concern;
  • to facilitate the sharing of information about school libraries and information technology programs across the many types of international and IB schools;
  • to develop a resource bank of colleagues who can assist each other in locating information or services according to their various needs and locations.

Potential Activities

  • identify special needs/issues of school librarians working in international and IB schools;
  • identify resources of particular significance to international and IB schools;
  • identify conferences and other professional development activities of interest to international and IB school librarians;
  • list web sites of international and IB schools and personnel.
