Katy Manck

President

Howdy, y’all! (That’s Texas talk for “hello to everyone”) Serving IASL as President is one of the highlights of my career which spanned 40 years in academic, corporate, public, and school librarianship prior to my retirement.

I personally believe that IASL exists because every child deserves a great school library and a qualified school librarian. My focus for our Association is implementing programs and collaborations that move us ever-closer to that goal.

Meeting colleagues and learning about school library activities and trends around the world at IASL Conferences since 2005 has opened my eyes, my mind, and my heart. Regarding IASL Conferences, I often say that “the presentations are valuable, and the conversations are even more valuable” so I encourage teacher-librarians and school library professors to keep their conversations going – we have so much to learn from one another!

My husband and I live outside a small Texas town in the USA, celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary in October 2021. Our five grown children and their families all know that any gift from GrandKate always includes books.
